What special precautions should I follow?
Before taking Mometasone:
Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to mometasone or any other drugs.
Inform your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, including vitamins.
Tell your doctor if you have an infection or have ever had cataracts, glaucoma, or diabetes.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.
Do not use plastic bandages, dressings, or diapers that do not allow air to circulate to the area (occlusive dressings) unless your doctor directs you to do so. The use of occlusive dressings can greatly increase the amount of drug the body absorbs. If you do use an occlusive dressing, do not use it for more than 12 hours a day.
This medicine has only been tested in children 12 years of age or older. Mometasone powder for inhalation may adversely effect the adrenal gland and stunt growth in pediatric patients.
